KAPAK — Diffused Hosting

Marble usually arrives as weight — a slab, a monument, something that asserts itself. KAPAK starts from the opposite intention: stone as a host. The vessel is pierced by a field of openings so that it holds and offers at the same time — fruit, light and air pass through it. Hosting is diffused across the surface rather than contained by it.

Stone that offers, rather than stone that dominates.

Working with Luce di Carrara meant designing with the marble rather than onto it — letting each stone’s veining and colour lead. The perforation pattern was tuned to the material: dense enough to lighten the form, open enough to keep the vessel legible as a single carved piece.

KAPAK is a family. The same geometry is cut from different marbles, each variant taking the identity of its stone — warm terracotta veins, cool greens, deep neutrals. The result is a small collection where the design stays constant and the material does the talking.

Placed on a table or a stone counter, KAPAK does its quiet work: a centrepiece that carries fruit and light, and stages a moment of hospitality. It is an object designed to be used around people, not admired behind glass.
